Virgin Voyages is a wellness cruise. It isn’t Just for drinkers and partiers! Promise. If you’re into wellness, Virgin could absolutely fit your vibe!
Let’s get this out of the way: Yes, there are pink neon lights. Yes, there’s a tattoo studio on board (but in my humble opinion…that is a part of wellness too! Just ask my skin lol). And yes, there’s a wildly fun drag brunch that includes mimosas and possibly an emotional awakening.
But Virgin Voyages is not a booze cruise.
In fact, it might just be the most balanced cruise experience out there—especially if you’re a lively woman in your 40s who wants a little kombucha with her cabernet, a morning HIIT class before the mezze platter, and some deep belly laughs alongside moments of actual rest.
What Makes Virgin Different (and Actually Awesome)
- No kids. Ever. It’s adults-only (18+), which means zero cannonball contests in the pool and zero guilt for ordering oysters and Champagne at lunch. And no emotional labor!
- No buffets. The food is elevated, globally inspired, and included—hello, Korean BBQ and vegetarian tapas. I (and my husband) fell in love with the fresh sushi. I was so impressed I might have complimented them a lil too much.
- No main dining room. Eat when you want, where you want, with no set seating or forced small talk. I love this for the simple reason you can prioritize your nutrition better.
Also: No hard sell on wellness. Just well-designed opportunities to move, breathe, and reset in between the fun. There’s no Goop waiting in the corners ready to accost you with a new essential oil blend.
Wellness Highlights for the Vata-Dominant, Barre-Loving Crowd:
- Sunrise yoga on the deck with an actual ocean breeze
- Group cycling classes that feel more SoulCycle than bootcamp
- Infrared saunas, cold plunges, and a wellness pool that’s more zen garden than splash zone
- Plant-forward, high-protein, and fresh meals and detox juices on offer alongside great wine lists
- Suite mood lighting and well-appointed staterooms that are not overstimulating with an actual comfy bed
Plus: The spa is genuinely gorgeous, and there’s a mud room. (Yes, for slathering yourself in mud and lying on warm tiles like a fancy lizard.)
It’s Also FUN—Like Real, Laugh-Out-Loud, Dance-in-Your-Caftan Fun
You won’t be stuck in a beige lounge listening to a second-rate jazz trio. Wellness isn’t all about silent retreats or meditation. It can be, but wellness means elevating and improving your own overall health in ways that are meaningful for you! Fun is wellness. Research says frequent laughter is critical for our physical and mental health. Expect:
- Unexpected pop-up performances
- Grown-up game shows
- Fun brain games, trivia, and karoake
- Parties that feel cheeky, not cheesy
- Cocktail bars with actual mixologists (and mocktails that don’t taste like sadness)
Who Virgin Voyages Is Best For…
Women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who:
- Want a high-low mix of self-care and silliness
- Like curated experiences but hate being told what to do
- Are wellness-minded but not wellness-obsessed
- Want something different from the usual luxury cruise scene
- Love unique, artsy shows and entertainment
Pro Tip: Bring Your Friends. Or Don’t.
This cruise works beautifully as a solo reset, a mother-daughter celebration, or a girls’ getaway where no one has to plan dinner or do dishes. (And you can all get matching tattoos if the moment strikes. Or just nap.)
